HOME BEYOND HOME The vehicle from Bal Anand picked us from Kharghar at 9.30 am and we headed to Umang. A travel of less than 90 minutes if you have a vehicle of your own. We reached Umang nearly at 11 am and were welcomed by Goldie, a dog. Umang seemed to be more beautiful this time. Sulochana mam was already at Umang.
We started the day with teaching those children the paper craft making. Unfortunately we did not have a lot of colour papers, so we had to use news papers for the craft. We had to initially learn those ourselves as none us knew how to actually prepare them. We failed many times initially but finally we successful in making a Candle stand and that is what we thought them first.
We noticed that the concentration power of some of those is very high even from the normal ones. Some others we felt hard to deal with. Some of them needed a one to one attention to do stuff. But still at the end everybody was able to make a stand of their own.
Then, we thought them how a draw cartoon. We showed them how to draw one and then handed over drawing sheets to them to try. What a nice experience it was. Raziya, one of them, kept on asking after every line, “Bhaiya, yeh sahi hai na”. All that those kids wants is attention and time. You give them that and they are very happy. Some like Usha, to cannot speak so much, needs a lot of motivation to do stuff. We need to keep telling them that you can do it and the results were amazing. We pinned all those drawings to a thread and put it across in their recreation room. A satisfaction to all those kids.
Post lunch, started with dumb sheraz. Nice it was to see to kids enact movies. What we noticed was that instead of enacting the name of the film, those kids were acting some of their favourite scenes of that film. The best part was that Usha, who i can say is very low in comparison with all others actually enacted a tough film “Jhankar Beats”. We were really overwhelmed to see that. Even Mrunali mam was shocked. That just proved that IMPOSSIBLE is nothing and given a stage and motivation, these kids are no less than any normal kid
Then came another game, Antakshari. Mind blowing is should say. Even we normal people would stand no were when it comes to singing songs. They went on and on, some really enjoying it a lot. This proved that their memory power is not at all weak and can think fast by practice.
Following this we played cricket and football as well and then had a small session with Sulochana mam. All and all, a wonderful day at Umang, a Memorable one for all of us.
